Ghazghkull Thraka - Bad Moonz version - WIP

Bogged down in details ... that about sums up my progress with Ghazghkull Thraka. This model has an insane amount of little details like wires, pipes and whatnots. So far, all I have managed are basecoats for a good portion of the model as well as some washes here and there. There is certainly a lot more work to be done before it looks half-decent.

What do the game rules say?
Technically, Ghazghkull Thraka hails from the Goff Klan which means his armour should have been painted with patches of red. Here, the warboss is wearing 'honourary' yellow armour since my army of Bad Moonz orks have decided to throw their lot behind G.Thraka and let him lead them. However, can G.Thraka be fielded in yellow armour during a game? Help ... anyone?

  1. Looking good so far. If your worried about the fluff then I'd say not to make him Ghazghkull at all. He could quite easily be another Ork as equally as impressive but just one from the Bad Moonz Klan. The 40k Universe is a big place after all!

  2. Nice progress! I'm doing Goff clan Orks right now, though I don't have a warboss as of yet. It's a big mek list...

    Nice!

  4. just add some red to the yellow, so that you can play in both armies ;)

  5. @Snake88 ... Thanks. I suppose you are right, but the one negative to that option is a Bad Moonz ork warboss won't have GT's attributes.

@Deathkorps ... The Goffs are the most powerful Ork clan right? Looking forward to seeing how your Goff Meks turn out. =)

@Limp ... Thanks. Am Finding out that the paints have a slightly different finish if applied to a rough resin surface. Nothing major, but it looks more obvious with the metallic paints.

@Vuel ... ha ha ha .. Big GT with a bipolar disorder ... what a brilliant idea. Maybe I will paint the skull symbol on his 'totem pole' red.

    1. Talk about resin, I'm having a pretty hard time with my raptors

1.) Although I soak them in warm water with dish washer liquid before assemble them, the paint just don't last, some of the paint actually goes off when I hold them while I paint them (I know, bad habit~_~, but I just don't get used to blu-tac them on a larger base and paint them)

2.) Believe it or not, they actually melted a bit a under room tempreture (no aircon lah)... to my horror, the second raptor is now bending sideway already.. those flame are horribly fragile =..="

    2. So far I haven't had any problems with the paint peeling. But then I haven't really worked with a lot of resin mdoels.

To me, the flexibilty of the parts is a two-edged sword. On one hand, parts can be 'forced' to fit in places where they normally cannot as when working with hard plastic parts. However, as you pointed out, this flexibility can also make some parts fragile. One of the two ... hmmm ... whatchamacallit ... missile tubes? ... sensor tubes? ... on top of G.Thraka is slightly bent out of shape.

  7. You can always play him as Bad Moon Warboss, but using the rules for Ghazgkul Thraka. "Count as" isn't something new. My Warmaster of The World Eaters is a scratchbuild that "count as" Abbadon on table.

    Looking forward to it.. :)
