It seems like an eternity, more than a year in fact, I have posted anything remotely related to a scale model kit that I had built and custom painted myself. This long unwanted streak is now broken with the Bandai 1/144 scale Real Grade Sinanju scale model kit project in which I had selectively custom painted the mecha's internal structure with metallic hues while keeping its outer armor in their original glossy red condition. The latter was possible only because of Bandai's high quality finish of the armor parts that make them look like they had been painted rather than having molded-in colors.
First up is the unboxing process whereby the contents of the Sinanju model kit is laid bare and examined in a video that you can watch below.
Secondly, we move on to close up look at the custom painted parts as well as undertake a partial assembly of the Sinanju on camera. What I mean by partial assembly is that off camera I have assembled some of the more fragile parts before hand. This I did because assembling stuff on camera requires me to work at a weird angle and low visibility, which in turn can lead to damage of the parts. So the partial assembly process not only made the video shorter and less long-winded, but also reduced unnecessary damage of the parts. The assembly video can be accessed below.
Last but not least is the finished scale model kit project being displayed as well reviewed (see below).
On the next blog, it's likely I will return to my now customary unboxing and review videos on pre-painted scale figures that based largely on anime or manga characters. But this doesn't mean I won't do anymore posts relating to custom painted scale model kit projects. It's just that it takes a long time for any one project to be completed, and as such the frequency of such posts will as a consequence be lower compared to posts on pre-painted figures. So rest assured, my blog will still showcase both.
