Khorne Berzerkers are ready for war!

After what seems like forever, the Khorne Berzerkers are finally finished. Highlights comprised Blood Red for the armour, Chainmail for the metal parts and Burnished Gold for the gold parts. Weapon tassels were washed with Thraka Green (on top of a Mechrite Red basecoat) and highlighted with a mixture of 1:3 Scab Red:Fortress Grey. Basing was inspired by GameWorkshop's Warptainted Lands colour scheme while a Black Legion decal was applied to the zerkers' left shoulder.

Can the zerkers be improved upon? Most undoubtedly. But for now, I guess I will leave them as they are. A wash of Devlan Mud was in the works but I decided against it at the end. A detailed 'How to paint Khorne Berzerkers' as well as colours used for the base will be posted in an upcoming blog.

A detailed look
With these new additions, the Black Legion army was soon looking for trouble.

Courage and honour?

Ugg and Ogg in trouble?

Well, based on that last picture above, it seems like the lovable Ugg and Ogg  are in serious trouble. They need help. So I will need to start my Citadel Finecast project soon and get Ghazghkull Thraka into the fray. I plan to use 'Heavy Metal's Masterclass guide to help paint this massive Ork Warboss.

It has been a crazy week hobby wise ... but I am loving every minute of it.

    1. Only two for sure ... Black Legion army and Orks. Any Ultramarines I paint in the future will most likely come from the Assault on Black Reach set that I have. So I guess three if you count the Ultramarines I paint to break the monotony.

  3. Hi FEM, you should wash the zerkers! Just a thin wash of devlan or black on the recess, it will bring out all the details, it is always fun to play with wash =)

Lookin forward for Thraka too, good on you, until this moment I haven't own any finecast... yet =p

    1. Heh heh ... I can't really bring myself to splash mud on the zerkers' details though I know that a wash of Devlan Mud would probably add some realism to the miniatures. Might be tempted to try it out on one of the zerkers ...

    1. Thanks! =) Perhaps a tad too crisp for a Chaos soldier. But these are newly minted chaos soldiers afterall. No time for the rot to set into their armour. ;D

Nah ... I am still using the same old LG camera phone (it has Carl Zeiss lens, does that help?). What has changed though is much much better lighthing. For the shots above I actually used two light sources to really brighten things up. Still experimenting though as direction of the light source can also play a huge role in the picture quality.

    1. Thanks! XD You are too kind. I have seen your miniatures in your blog and they are way better than mine.

Heh heh ... my transfers not so good either. Was using a lot of a Japanese product called 'Mr Mark SOFTER' to make the decals soften and fit into the shoulder. So much so until one decal was actually torn. I am going with '... a bullet grazed the berzerkers' shoulder' ... sounds more professional than I messed up the decals lol. Thanks for visiting my blog! =)

  6. I used the 'Eavy Metal Masterclass on my ork nob and it worked really well. I found it easy to follow and the yellow came out great. You can see my version here:

I'm looking forward to seeing how yours turns out.
